Let me start by saying I wasn't even aware there was such thing as an Oktoberfest! My husband who is the beer fanatic of the family was so stoked to hear the famous Morey's Pier's had invited us to their Oktoberfest! For those of you that don't know Morey's Piers is located in Wildwood NJ and they have three piers. The family history of Morey's Piers started with brothers Bill and Will Morey (cute right?). They're responsible for the cool looking styled motels in the area! Through the 60's all the way to present day the Morey brothers built on these piers. They created amusement attractions from roller coasters to water slides, and man did they rock at it.
So their three piers or Mariners Pier, Surfside Pier, and Adventure Pier. The legend of their Oktoberfest involves an "Oktopas" from Germany that washed up on the beaches in Wildwood "many moons ago" in his lederhosen! They have a big blow up octopus that probably got more attention than I initially anticipated. When we got down there we were super impressed first off with the cleanliness of the entire pier. Our three year old has to pee every four seconds so we immediately hit the bathrooms. I'll say they were probably the cleanest boardwalk bathrooms I've ever seen and there was NEVER a line and this place was PACKED. Like I said before they had three piers and we hung out at the Oktoberfest one and there was an insane amount of things to do.
We had our three-year-old in tow so she's in that weird stage where most of the time she's too short for most of the rides. They had more than enough rides for her to ride on! She was thrilled to be able to ride on the "big kid" rides. With certain admission, you also got a $10 food and beverage credit which was AWESOME. We ended up doing dinner at Jumbo's and man was it delicious. I got their Oktoberfest burger that had fried onions on a pretzel bun, I could have eaten that for days! My husband is the beer reviewer, you can find his Instagram and see his awesome documentation of the Oktoberfest and his review of their beer choices was phenomenal. There was a huge selection of beers and at the end, he ended up with their signature beer mug. They had a huge choice selection of food from hot dogs to their famous curly fries. Anywhere you decided to eat, you weren't going to be disappointed.
Let me also tell you they served PUMPKIN FUNNEL CAKE! This literally was the most exciting part of the day. This was at Fritz's and to be honest all the food was priced pretty nicely. You could go down for the day and not spend a ton of money on food and beverages. By the end of the night, after our child had exhausted us on all of these fabulous rides, we did pumpkin and cookie decorating! These lovely ladies were there and for $6 you could decorate both. You could pick a design for your pumpkin and decorate away! Ashley had a blast with this. This was after their cute little face painter booth decorated her face with the PINK ninja turtle! To top it all of they had this band that walked around the pier in their lederhosen and played traditional German music which just added to the Oktoberfest theme!
All in all, this was a really awesome event. It's family friendly while also allowing the adults to have some fun too! It was a big enough space to where you didn't feel crowded and they had more than enough for the kids to do! This event comes around again on September 30th to October 1st and October 7th and 8th. I've dropped their website info at the bottom for ticket information and I'll just say it's TOTALLY worth it. Take the kiddos down to the shore especially with this crazy weather! Enjoy the day down at Morey's Piers Oktoberfest and end your summer with a bang!
